<p>1435524 Thermoplastic elastomeric blends UNIROYAL Inc 17 July 1973 [29 Aug 1972] 34014/73 Heading C3P Thermoplastic elastomeric blends comprise (A) a monoolefin copolymer rubber having a zero shear viscosity of at least 1 x 10<SP>9</SP> poises at 135‹ C. and a branching index of 1À6 to 3À2 and (B) a polyolefin plastic. The rubber may be a copolymer of at least twoα-olefins, preferably ethylene and propylene, optionally together with a diene which may be conjugated, e.g. butadiene or isoprene, but is preferably non- conjugated, e.g. 1,4-hexadiene, dicyclopentadiene, methylene or ethylidene norbornene, cyclooctadiene or methyltetrahydroindene. The polyolefin plastic may be a polymer of ethylene, propylene, butene-1, pentene-1 or 4-methylpentene-1. Either or both components may contain conventional additives, and the compositions may be formed into articles by conventional moulding procedures, particularly extrusion. Examples describe blends of ethylene / propylene / dicyclopentadiene terpolymers rubbers containing nonylphenyl phosphite or ethylene/propylene copolymer rubbers with polypropylene or polyethylene.</p> |
