Alternating representation of two alpha-numeric characters - single display uses two complementary colour light sources

Means are provided for the alternating switching-on of the complementary colour light sources as well as means for the stopping of one of the light sources by using complementary colour shutters. The shutters are components of a display matrix. Within those components which are used for the display of two alpha-numeric characters, both complementary colours are accommodated in one raster. The indicator matrix consists of a seven segment display. The raster consists of two parallel adjacent elongated surfaces. The transparent components of the seven segment display (1 to 5) are mounted on an otherwise opaque surface.
