Pressure-operated knife holder - gives sideways knife movement resulting from downward stroke of piston

The pressure-operated knife holder is for use in roll-cutting machines, the circular knife (3) being lowered on to the strip material to be cut, and at the same time moved sideways against the edge of a mating knife. The sideways movement is effected mechanically, and forced as a result of the pressure-operated downward stroke of the piston (4). The piston can be only single-acting, the return stroke being affected by springs (6, 8, 14). The design allows the amount of sideways movement to be accurately preset to a constant value.
