Hydrodynamic braking system for goods wagons - has impeller cooling system with suction pump cooling for brake fluid

A hydrodynamic braking system for use on the free wheels of goods vehicles is built into the wheel rim and includes a cooling circuit for the brake fluid. The fixed axle has two bearings carrying a composite wheel rim assembly. A rotating impeller wheel is secured to the rim and also carries a fluid container. A mounting sleeve keyed to the fixed axle provides a support for the fixed impeller wheel. In normal operation the rotating impeller and container free wheel are supported on bearings and are sealed relative to stationary components. Fluid passes to the impeller interface when air is applied.
