Safety ampoule comprises filling chamber contg. the injection fluid, and a separate empty chamber into or out of which glass splinters fall when the ampoule is broken open. pref. the conical portion of the ampoule above the neck is expanded outwards to form the empty chamber of which the walls extend downwardly to a point below the level of the neck, at which point is an annular track at which the ampoule is broken. A supporting compsn. may be applied between the neck of the ampoule and the downwardly extending walls. The ampoule may be bent into a U or V shape, and closed at both ends, with a breakage point at one or both ends.
