Composite yarn is produced by vacuum plating both faces of a synthetic fibre film, which has been treated so that its surfaces are rough or abraded, with tin or other similar non-oxidizing metal. The metal plated film is slit into ribbons and twisted, texturized or simply wrapped around an ordinary filamentary core. This metallized yarn is woven, tufted etc. with conventional yarns. Renders carpets, clothing anti-static. The yarns are non-reflective and do not impart any undesirable metallic glitter and readily blend into the final appearance of the product.
|
