<p>An appts. for the treatment of air before combustion to improve the energy yield and reduce oxide pollutants in the exhaust gases of internal combustion engines, comprises a sealed metal casing, e.g. of parallelepipedic form, for fitting between the air filter and the carburettor or fuel injector, having an internal chamber with adjoining compartments separated by metal partitions bonded to the casing, each compartment having a plane, insulated electrode mounted centrally therein over the whole height of the compartment and formed from a network of conductor wires maintained at a high potential by a feed circuit connected to the battery or other source of electrical energy of the vehicle. The electrode system causes dissociation of oxygen in the air to form unstable ozone matls. and free atoms of oxygen, and these give improved combustion of the fuels so that less CO and oxide of nitrogen occur in the exhaust gases.</p> |
