The hydraulic rock or concrete breaker has an elongated block (14) containing a set of cylindrical chambers for a corresponding set of pistons (17), all housed inside a cylindrical casing (18) which is inserted in a hole of a suitable size made in the concrete and connected to a high pressure hydraulic supply so that the block is forced outwards with a great force to split the concrete. A lip (26) down the edges of the opening in the casing (18) acts to retain and guide the block (14) which has a shoulder (27) down its corresponding edges, so that the pistons are not freed by excess travel. The design prevents loss of hydraulic oil and entry of concrete fragments into the chambers.
|
