1431489 Screw-and-nut gearing CSEPELI SZEKSZAMGEPGYAR 21 May 1973 [13 July 1972] 24054/73 Heading F2Q In a ball screw mechanism comprising preloadable nuts 3, 8 non-rotatably mounted in a housing sleeve 5, the nuts 3, 8 may be interchanged or turned so that the longitudinal axis of each nut is reversed in order to permit the sides of the nut thread profiles which were originally loaded to be unloaded and the originally unloaded profiles to be loaded. The nut 8 is provided with a keyway which houses a key 7 which prevents rotation of the nut 8 and the nut 3 is pre-loaded by the engagement of teeth with a ring 4 which is externally and internally toothed and engages internal teeth on a ring 2 secured to the sleeve 5. In a modification, both ends of a nut 17, Fig. 3, are provided with teeth or knurled portions. Similar teeth are provided on a pressure ring 12, and a deformable ring 13 is located between the ring 12 and adjacent end of the nut 17. The ring 13 may be of plastics material or copper. In snother modification, a ring 23, Fig. 5, is secured to a sleeve 22 and has internal teeth which engage a toothed end portion of a nut 27. In the construction shown in Fig. 7, a nut 31 is non- rotatably connected to a disc 32 by a pin 37, and a nut 35 is coupled to the disc 32 by means of an internally and externally toothed ring 36. Fig. 9 shows a construction in which nuts 42, 45 are spaced by a distance-piece 44 which determines the amount of pre-load, and both ends of both nuts are provided with keyways which are adapted to accommodate a key 46 which is held in position by a spring 43. |
