A hollow tool or planing machine for production of slits in wooden articles in which the rotatory motion of a motor is fed to two cutting tools by means of eccentrics and elliptical guide paths, has at least two drive shafts (19A, 21A) coupled to one eccentric drive (3, 9) for each tool (23) such that the drive shafts (19, 21A) are simultaneously displaced by a specific phase difference on their eccentric mounting rings (15, 17). Their degree of motion may be adjusted by a single setting device (9) which alters the eccentricity of the eccentric mounting rings (15, 17).
