Each pincer has two limbs (4) coupled at their upper ends by a hydraulic power cylinder below which is positioned a coupling linkage which ensures that the two limbs move symmetrically apart or towards one another. Each linkage has a central arm (7) swivable about a vertical axis and having two equal-length arms (7a, 7b) whose ends are each hinge-connected to a two-part thrust rod whose other end is coupled to its respective pincer limb via a bolt extension on the limb. The angle of bending of the two parts of the thrust rod are limited by a stop. Relatively small displaceable auxiliary weights (12) are located near the thrust rod linkage bolts (10).
