A textile material contg. synthetic fibres is textured or permanently bulked by being advanced through a treatment chamber in which it is e.g. heated and e.g. a treatment fluid is sprayed onto it. The material is advanced through the chamber by a feed roll against which it is pressed by a presser roll acting under gravity, and the matl. passes around a pivotal tension compensator bar. Variations in the dimension of the material during treatment cause the tension compensator bar to pivot and the movement of the bar is used to control the speed of the feed roll and therefore the feed rate of the material. A uniform treatment is ensured providing a higher quality fabric with good touch characteristics. |
