The process places a number of tiles in position on a thin or thick bed on a wall. The set of tiles (66) are assembled together by means of an elastic plate at the back into a panel. This panel is then placed, with the aid of a layer equipped with securing devices, against the wall and vibrated. The tile panels can be placed in position starting at the top and working downwards. The vibrator unit (10) can be equipped with handles (22) and a flexible plate (26) interchangeable with a rigid one, and whose dimensions are less than those of the tile panel. The rigid plate has a spring-mounted rail extending below the lower edge.
