<p>Process and paint installation for the recovery of airborne fines of dried milk powder or similar product is claimed of the type in which fresh milk is first evaporated and then passed through a hot air dryer, e.g. spray dryer, from which exhaust air carries fines which are recovered by taking the air through a washer in which the washing liq. is fresh milk, this milk, enriched with fines, is added back to the fresh milk supply prior to the evaporation stage. Essentially, the enriched milk from the washer is collected in a tank and the flaoting foam layer on top of the liquid is sepd. off and passed through a gear pump, homogeniser, baffle box or other means of destroying the foam by mechanical shearing action, residual foamless liq. being returned to the tank ready for adding back to the fresh milk supply. Pref. the fresh milk used as washing liq. is used at 4 to 10 degrees C.</p> |
