<p>A lasting amchine for turning and tacking the lasted edge prior to fixing the welt has standard slide members (1) which move transversely to the last and line up the edge of the shoe and after the latter has been tacked in and pressed against the welt by the rotating rollers (4) they then engage the lasted shoe edge (2) for permanent attachment. The slide members preferably consist of clamping members which pivot about a longitudinal axis resiliently biased against this swing. These clamping members each consist of two arms (8, 9) which form an angle member (7) with a resilient band (14) stretched between their outer ends which point in the direction of the last. On engagement with the lasted shoe, the slide members transfer the considerable tensile stresses from the band to the shoe in the direction of he lasted edge, smoothing out the adhesive and applying firm extra pressure.</p> |
