N-contg. phosphonic acid esters of formula (Ic) are new: R1-CO-NR10-CH2-CHR2-CHr3-P(=O)(OR4)2 (Ic), (where R1, R2, R3 and R4 are opt. different and each is an aliphatic gp. and R2 and R3 can also be H; the 2 R4 gps. together can also be an aliphatic gp. bonding the 2 O-atoms; R1 can also be H or gp. HO-R5-O- or gp. R5-O-, in which R5 is an aliphatic gp. or gp. (R4O)2P(=O)-CHR3-CHR2-CH2-NH-CO)-t-(R6)-x R6 is an aliphatic gp., x is 1 or 0 and y is 1,2,3 or 4, and R10 is H, (cpd. I), -CH2OH, (cpds. Ia), or -CH2-OR9 (cpds. lb), in which R9 is an aliphatic gp.). (I), (Ia), (Ib), (Ic) are starting materials for prepn. of dyes, plant-protective agents and textile auxiliaries, pref. flame-proofing agents for textiles, partic. contg. natural and/or regenerated cellulose, including curtains, soft furnishings, theatre decorations, working clothes and tent materials. In use, textiles are treated with (Ic) and with an amino-plast-forming cpd.
