Digital display esp for scales - with liquid crystal cell symbols read through optical fibre plate

The display has a liquid crystal cell with transparent walls and transparent electrodes forming patterns resulting from the total number of symbols to be displayed at each point. Symbol element electrodes are selected under the control of a switching unit connected to the weigher. The liquid crystal cell is situated behind an optical fibre plate through which the symbols generated by the cell are visible. The optical fibre plate may comprise the front wall of the cell, and the light source for the cell may be in front of or behind the latter. The necessity of large components is avoided.
