<p>A propulsion device for a vehicle has an impeller mounted on a shaft running in bearings in a casing. The casing is filled with oil which is driven, by centrifugal force generated by the rotating impeller, through the passageways formed between the impeller and a shroud. The axial component of the thrust exerted on the shroud due to centrifugal force is used to propel the vehicle in which the device is installed. After leaving the impeller the oil impinges on the blades of a turbine which drives the impeller through a torque converter. The device thus exerts thrust without using a jet of air or water and with negligible energy consumption.</p> |
