1444677 Bearings P KUHBIER D KUHBIER J KUHBIER and E GESSLER [trading as PAUL KUHBIER & CO] 10 April 1974 [14 April 1973] 15878/74 Heading F2A In a shaft bearing assembly (Fig. 5), the housing comprises a plurality of housing members 22, 23 each injection moulded from synthetic plastics, at least one recess for retaining a rolling bearing therein, at least one recess 13 to receive a seal, and a plurality of integral elements connected to the housing by frangible means to be selectively removable to adapt the housing to different types of shaft. The housing members meet along a plane passing through the bearing axis, and are bolted together. The elements are constituted by semicircular disc portions 19, 21 having edges 191, 211 which mate to form an end cover. The disc portions are attached by means of a thin rim so that they can be broken off to accommodate a shaft 17. The housing members may be located in an outer body provided with mounting means; they may be self aligning therein (Fig. 9, not shown). In a further embodiment (Fig. 15), the housing has extended end portions 57, 62 to accommodate shafts of different diameters; said end portions can be broken off at the zones C and F. The bearing is fixed or mounted for self alignment in a ring accommodated in the recess 50. The plastics material may be PVC, or polyethylene.
