1446118 Adhering heat-activatable adhesivecoated sheets to surfaces WASSER-SANDFORSCHUNGS-UND VERTRIEBS GmbH 19 July 1974 [23 July 1973] 32042/74 Heading B6G Apparatus for applying a heat-activatable adhesive-coated strip of material (e.g. wallpaper) to a surface comprises a frame in which are mounted means for heating the coat of adhesive to activate it, resilient means for smoothing the strip and causing it to adhere to the surface, and means for cooling the adhesive after the strip has been smoothed and stuck to the surface. The apparatus consists of a housing 8 with a handle 9 and enclosing a frame 7 which may be of fibreglass reinforced plastics material. Mounted on to the frame are a heat source 2 which may be an infra-red radiator, a hot air blower, or a heated resilient contact blade, and a leading roller 1 and a trailing roller 3, both having resilient surfaces. A fan 6 is arranged to direct a cooling stream of air over the rear face of the trailing roller to cool the wallpaper after it has been smoothed and stuck by this roller. Instead of the trailing roller, there may be used a resilient blade of tough flexible material positioned to press against the wallpaper surface. |
