Frequency selective notch antenna for RF signals - has capacitive shunt path across notch and frequency matching

The notch antenna comprises a metallic structure, which is provided with a notch with a capacitive shunt path and of small width relative to the wave-length. The notch is coupled via a high frequency cable to the receiver tuning circuit, for coupling the frequency range of the antenna with that of the receiver circuit. The antenna may be in the form of a circular metal plate (A) with a radial notch(K) shunted by a capacitive diode (D) and the inner and outer conductors of the coaxial high frequency cable coupled to points (S1, S2) on opposite sides of the notch (K).
