1446765 Rock detection device MASSEYFERGUSON INDUSTRIES Ltd 6 Nov 1973 [8 Nov 1972] 51492/73 Addition to 1389073 Heading A1F A rock detecting device for combine harvesters comprises piezo-electric ceramic discs 72 in the harvester table 26 and an electronic circuit, Fig. 3, which filters out significant signals such as those caused by rocks in the mechanism and actuates an electro mechanical clutch 110 disengaging the power transmission from the driving mechanism 21 to the crop handling apparatus. The circuit may additionally actuate a solenoid 150, forming part of a latch mechanism 68, which retains a trap door, 66 or 66a, in the normal closed position, causing the trap door to open and allow the rocks to fall out. The circuit further includes a peak detector 136 having a variable control 137 for adjusting the sensitivity of the device, a manual ON-OFF switch 157 whereby the clutch 110 may be operated manually. The sensing device 70 may be connected to an oscillograph, or the like, for visual indication of the presence of foreign bodies. The circuit may comprise automatic resetting means. Solenoid 150 may be of the push-pull type connected to the trap doors by a suitable linkage for automatic operation of the trap door by solenoid 150 or other electrohydraulic means. |
