1324717 Oxidation catalysts STAMICARBON NV 9 Nov 1970 [12 Nov 1969] 53150/70 Heading B1E [Also in Division C2] Catalysts for the oxidation of olefines to alkanones, comprising oxides of molybdenum and of tin on a thermostable carrier, with at least a major proportion of the tin oxide present in the form of particles of size at most 50Š, are prepared by homogeneous formation of hydroxyl ions in a solution containing tin ions in the presence of the carrier, followed by addition of a salt or oxide of molybdenum. The formation of the hydroxyl ions may be carried out by adding urea and heating. Catalysts so prepared contain 15% SnO 2 , 15% MoO 3 , 68% SiO 2 , and 2% C; and 33.6% SnO 2 , 13% MoO 3 , 51% SiO 2 and 2% C (by weight). |
