The fixing bolt concerns an iron fixing element used on wood or similar materials. A cylindrical saw-toothed shaft (2) has an end which is split three or four times longitudinally, creating thereby a resilient element which yields to a certain measure during the driving-in of the shaft and leaves the inside surface of the hole in the wood more or less undamaged, so that after the final twisting of the shaft a longer part of the shaft toothing engages with the wood material.
