The generator produces the current impulses for the nerve stimulating apparatus. A regulator adjusts the duration of the pulse, and also therefore automatically influences the duration of the pulse interval, as the pulse length is varied. Hence the pulse interval increass with the pulse length. The regulator is divided into at least two zones, each part having a characteristic impulse interval of fixed duration, a potentiometer resistance in the regulator lying on a fixed direct voltage contains logarithmic characteristics and the voltage tapped from it simultaneously determines the direction of the pulse and of the interval. The system thus eliminates the requirement for two potentiometers to individually vary the pulse and the pulse interval.
