Mfr. of a packing or casting resin, for longitudinally sealing the core of a cable filled with a pressurised medium and built up of transmission elements, esp. a core of a multi-pair communication cable that is controlled by presurised gas, comprises placing the core into a mould whose shape conforms at least at the sealing point to the outer shape of the packing and in whose lower part there is a support made of rubber-elastic material for the packing to be cast, the support also functioning as mould bottom; and then filling the mould with casting resin. The packing as claimed is easily mfrd. on site.
