1530122 Easy-open containers METAL BOX CO Ltd 16 Oct 1975 [25 Oct 1974] 46390/74 Heading B8D A metal can, comprising a body 15 and a seamed-on closure having a full-open tear-out panel 4A defined by a score 3, is provided with a plastics band 7 spanning the score-line and bonded to the tear-out panel for shielding the raw edge of the latter after removal and a bead 16 formed in the body for shielding the raw edge left on the remainder of the closure, the latter being provided with a release coating 14 to prevent adhesion of the band 7 to the remainder of the closure. The band may be preformed or formed in situ of a plastisol, on either the inside or outside of the closure, bonded directly to the metal of the closure, or to a coating on a base coating 10.
