Title cpds. are of formula: (where R is 19-30C alkyl). Prepn. is e.g. by esterification of 5-pyrrolidone-2-COOH or its halide or anhydride with R.OH in the presence of a strong acid or an acid-activating substance e.g. SOCl2 or N, N1-dicyclohexylcarbodiimi de. The title esters, specif. the nonadecyl ester, are therapeutic and cosmetic agents for skin care and treatment exerting an inhibition of sebum glands and an anti-inflammatory action. |
