The tank contains hot water, having a layer of insulating material on the outside. It consists of an inner lining (2) impermeable to liquid, and two or more rigid dish sections (3), shaped to fit round the lining and of porous heat-insulating material. These bear against the lining and are detachably secured to each other. The lining can be in the form of a relatively thin impermeable skin, typically of plastic. It can be constructed of strips of material such as plastic or plastic/aluminium laminate. The dish sections can be of aeroconcrete or hard foam plastic.
