Wind instrument of flute type - has valve stops with spring loaded contacts actuated by common bar connecting rod

The flute type of musical instrument comprises a mouthpiece (1), a vibrating tube (2) with a number of transverse boreholes (3), opposite each of which is a valve stopper (7) attached to a spring (8). The top ends of the springs are attached to a common bar (6) pivoted at one end by a bracket and hinge (4, 5). A single key (12), when depressed, causes the valve stops to come into contact with the boreholes, but at different compression levels along the length of the tube. Seven valve stops are provided to accommodate the notes of an octave scale. The last stop is rigid to act as a limit device when fully depressed.
