<p>A seal for turbine shafts is specified for the limiting of leakage of the working fluid from the housing, partic. where a high pressure difference exists, and to allow less leakage than a conventional labyrinth seal, using smaller grooves. The shaft (3) passes through its bearings (8) contactlessly through the seal (2) in the housing (1) and through an electromagnetic coil (4), the current through which is supplied from an amplifier (6) controlled by an electronic circuit (5) and which is dependent upon impulses from a displacement transducer (7). The seal in this case is an axial groove seal, but may also be in the form of an axial labyrinth seal or a radial groove or labyrinth seal.</p> |
