<p>1486697 Activated sludge process INGENIEURSBUREAU DWARS HEEDERIK EN VERHEY BV 23 March 1976 [25 March 1975] 12342/75 Heading C1C In an activated sludge process for purifying sewage wherein the sewage is circulated in a basin along a closed path, the entire amount of the sewage is introduced to the basin exclusively by pressurizing the sewage by a pump means, passing the pressurized sewage through at least one injector having an air inlet in open communication with the atmosphere whereby air is mixed with the sewage, and introducing the mixture of air and sewage into the basin in the form of an inclined jet in such a manner that the required amount of oxygen is added to the sewage and the sewage is brought into circulation along the closed path. A preferred injector shown in Fig. 2 comprises a sewage inlet pipe 7 provided with a nozzle 8 discharging into conduit 9, the pipe 7 being surrounded by a chamber 10 connected to channel 11 which is exposed to the atmosphere. In Fig. 1 raw sewage is passed through a screen 4 to a pressurizing pump 5, into injectors of the type shown in Fig. 2 and injected into an activated sludge basin 1.</p> |
