<p>A reproduction head for contained on a magnetic recording medium, using ferro-resistive elements to detect changes in the magnetic field and so reproduce the recorded information. It uses a number of strips of magneto-resistive material with a preferred direction of magnetisation, each provided with connections to an electrical circuit, which are arranged in two groups having identical preferred directions of magnetisation, but with complementary angles between the directions of the axis of magnetisation and the lengths of th strips so as to produce a symmetrical system. The result is that an applied magnetic field increasing the resistance of one half of the pattern will have an opposite effect of a decrease in the other half, providing inherent compensation without the need for a differential amplifier for elimination of interfering fields or for adjustment of alignment with the track being scanned.</p> |
