Surface sizing and upgrading of paper - using soln contg starch products and aluminium formate

Process for the surface sizing and upgrading of paper by the employment of conventional starch degradation products possessing a low viscosity and normally used for this purpose. The novelty is that the solutions of such products also contain aluminium formate. The sized quality and also the water resistance of the paper are improved, and the wear resistance of the coatings is increased.
