1467341 Security means for coin collecting container QONAAR CORP 11 April 1974 [16 April 1973] 16180/74 Heading G4V [Also in Division E2] A coin handling apparatus in combination with a coin box 14 comprises a coin container 10 a receiver housing 12 on the container having a recess formed by sleeve 24 for receiving the coin box, the coin box has an opening 44 whereby coins in the box can be transferred into said container, a closure 46 for the opening, the closure being opened upon movement of the bore within the housing, an improvement comprising a passage, defined by side walls 70 and walls 72, 74, for movement of coins from the coin box into the container, means, clearing arm 90, for clearing the passage to insure the movement of coins through the passage, and drive means for the arm operable in response to opening of the closure whereby the arm moves across the area as said closure is opened. Operation.-The coinbox is placed in the sleeve 24. In so doing it depresses a plunger 26 to release the sleeve for rotation relative to the housing. Post 34 ensures correct alignment of the coin box in the sleeve. Opening 44 is aligned with an opening 62 in the sleeve. Key 56 in the housing but projecting into the sleeve, engages in lock 52 so that the casing of the coin box can be rotated relative to shutter 46 which mounted on post 50. Arm 90 has a connection section 96 that fits about the sleeve. This part has a groove 93 in which a projection 95 on the sleeve fits. Thus rotation of the sleeve produces rotation of the arm to clear the passage. An arm 82 is attached to the sleeve, passes through slot 80 in the housing and has a blocking plate at its other end. Thus rotation of the sleeve causes the blocking plate to enter slot 88 and close off the open end of the passage when the openings in the coinbox and sleeve are aligned with the passage. This prevents pilfering by operation of the sleeve when a coin box is not present therein.
