Dentrifice cleaning compsn in tablet/powder form - contains urea and acts rapidly

A dentifrice cleaning agent in the form of a powder or tablets contains at least 30 wt.% urea. The dentrifice enables fast and complete removal of food residues and plaque. The pref. compsn. contains at least 45 wt.% urea and may contain up to 80 wt.%. The compsn.'s activity is increased by including 3-15 wt.% of a polybasic org. acid, e.g. citric, succinic, malic, fumaric, gluconic or adipic acid but esp. tartaric acid. An effervescing agent esp. NaHCO3 or KHCO3, may also be present in amts. of 3-25 wt.%, as may an O2-releasing substance, e.g. a peroxide, in amts. of 0.5-25 wt.% as well as 1-25 wt.% of a complexant, up to 5 wt.% of a surface active agent, anti-microbials (e.g. Chlorohexidine), dyes and time indicators etc. For use in tablet form, the compsn. may also contain a conventional binder, e.g. polyvinyl pyrrolidone.
