Filter cartridge 12 is supported by permeable core 11 and is hot melt adhesively secured to top plate 18 and screwed bottom member 20. Blood enters at 26 and passes inwardly through filter cartridge 12, which may be pleated, and exits at 22, air is vented at 27. The casing may be opaque or transparent, e.g. of polyolefins such as polypropylene, polyethylene, butadiene/styrene polymers or polycarbonates. The cartridge may be of synthetic fibre felts or synthetic foam or woven polyester or nylon. The cartridge may be frusto conical with more widely spaced pleats at the bottom than the top.</p> |
