Measuring transformer with Hall effect probe - uses resilient rectangular core made of elastomer with probe in air gap

The measuring transformer has a magnetic core (1) made from interchangeable plates formed into a rectangle with an air gap in one of the long sides. The material used is of flexible material such as an elastomeric silicone which avoids magneto striction. The side with the air gap passes through a secondary coil (2) mounted on a former (2) with retaining lugs (12) at the air gap. Within this gap is positioned a Hall effect probe (5) mounted on support plate (6) secured by a globule of plastics material. This coil is housed inside a tube around which passes a large U shaped loop forming the primary. The primary and secondary coils are enclosed in a shroud with openings through the top for the ends of the primary coil.
