The device is for cooling a molten salt used periodically for heat treatment. A heat exchanger device is attached to the transport or supply pipe (4) such that it is formed by an insert pipe (22) which can be inset into the feed or transport pipe (4) for the molten salt mixture. The insert pipe (22) is mounted concentrically in the transport pipe (4) and is attached to it by means of a flange plate (22a) through an input piece (46). The cooling fluid can be led in a helical path for improved heat transfer with the salt solution.
