<p>The sliding doors of the railway carriage are mounted inside a frame (9) fitted into the door opening. The door is supported at its upper edge on special guide (5) which also contain the hydraulic rams. The bottom edge is supported on pivoted arms which engage slots under the bottom edge, using rollers. The doors are swung laterally out of the door frame on pivoted support arms (7, 8) as well as the bottom edge supports. The rams are then operated to slide the doors onto rails, inclined to either side of the opening, and on the outside of the carriage. The door opening does not weaken the structure of the carriage, while access to the sliding mechanism is improved.</p> |
