In a section which the weft yarn ends are reinserted into the selvedge which is to be warp reinforced, teh fabric construction is weaker than in the edging zone bordering on it. In the adjacent edge zone a shear path is woven and the selvedge outside this path is mechanically sepd., leaving a permanent edge on the body of the fabric. Makes it possible to lay in the ends of the picks without thickening the selvedge and setting up an uneven wave formation, esp. in the case of velvets and similar fabrics with a tightly beaten-up, very dense weft.
|
