Epsilon-aminocaproamide is prepd. by hydrogenation of epsilon-nitrocaproamide in liq. NH3 under press. at 50-150 degrees C with a common redn. catalyst, pref. contg. a Group VIII metal. Pref. sufficient liq. NH3 is used to dissolve all the reactant nitrocaproamide at the reaction temp. The catalyst is easily sepd. from the liq. reaction mixt. |
