Densified particles are produced from strips of material such as polyolefins and their copolymers, esp. from waste edging strips of synthetic film used for the prodn. of bands of film for woven prods. The particles have size and density characteristics similar to those of the granulates of the same matls. for use in extrusion. The strips are folded together a number of times and after being subjected in the folded condition to the action of heat and tension, poss accompanied by embossing, they are cut up into pieces of approximately the same length and breadth. Possible to recycle the trimmed waste edges of orientted film which have differences in thickness, tensile strength, elasticity, etc., in a form which permits mixing in with the granulate fed to the extruder. Edging strips of low pressure polythene can be reduced to a particle size of 3x3 mm length and breadth and 1 to 1.5 mm thick, with a granular density of 0.30 to 0.55 kg/dm3.
|
