1466045 Isoprene STAMICARBON BV 18 July 1975 [22 July 1974] 30300/75 Heading C5E Isoprene is prepared by reacting isobutylene with formaldehyde in the gas phase at 150- 400‹ C. in the presence of a catalyst comprising a supported copper phosphate composition. The Cu/P ratio in the copper phosphate composition may be 1 : 10 to 10 : 1. Suitable supports are silicon and/or alumina. An aqueous formaldehyde solution and a C 4 fraction may be used as reactants.
