Separator for light liquids, e.g. mineral oils or petrol - consists of vessel with inlet extending over whole width

Separator consists of a vessel with an inlet pipe dipping below the liq. surface which increases in size towards the base. An opening in the pipe is directed horizontally towards the middle of the vessel and extends over the whole width of the wall of the vessel on the inlet side. Pref. the opening has a baffle in front of it of the same size as the opening. Pref. there are several such inlet systems along the wall of the vessel with outlets extending close together over the width of the wall. Allows the flow stream to be distributed uniformly over the whole width of the separator without the formation of dead spaces which do not participate in sepg. the light liq. The whole capacity of the separator is thus utilised.
