Prefabricated timber window or door unit - has vertical posts linked by crosspiece and grooved for attachment of panels

Each unit consists of two vertical posts (1A, 1B) which are the same height as one storey of the finished building, linked by a cross-piece (2) forming the lintel base and a second cross-piece (3) forming the window support. These transverse members rest on a shoulder (4) on the posts. Also onto the uprights (1A, 1B) are fastened sections to close off the non-opening areas. The uprights have a rectangular cross-section with the long sides equal to the thickness of the adjacent panel against which it is supported. Grooves are provided in the uprights for attachment of the opening door/window panel and provision is also made in the window-units for attachment of shutters.
