1413837 Vulcanizing fluoroelastomers E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 22 Dec 1972 [27 Dec 1971 28 Sept 1972] 59432/72 Heading C3P A vulcanizable fluoroelastomer composition comprises (A) a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride and at least one other fluorinated monomer and (B) an ester of an aromatic hydroxyl compound as vulcanization agent. The composition may also contain a metal oxide or hydroxide optionally mixed with a weak acid salt, and a vulcanization accelerator, including quaternary phosphorus, arsenic, antimony or aluminium compounds, triaryl phosphoranes, guanidines and amidines. In examples the polymer is a vinylidene fluoride/hexafluoropropylene copolymer; the vulcanization agent is the diacetate of hexafluoroisopropylidene-bis-(4-hydroxy benzene), 4,41 - sulphonyl - diphenol or hydroquinone; the accelerator is benzyltriphenylphosphonium bromide and the compositions also include carbon black, calcium hydroxide and magnesium oxide. The compositions are cured by heating. |
