All plates are insulating plates, mounted at a distance from each ohter, and tightly sealed around their edges. A first electrode is inside the discharge space between the transparent and base plates including the holes in the spacing plates. A second electrode in the discharge space is at a distance from the first. Both have connecting wires. A specified voltage is applied to the electrodes through the above wires, so that a gas discharge can be produced. A discharge promoting devie is provided between the electrodes, connected with the discharge space. It may consist of metal oxide dust held by porous insulating material. |
