1469272 Centrifugal strainer SWECO INC 12 March 1974 [12 March 1973] 11032/74 Heading B1D Influent liquid-solid mixture is delivered by fixed means 10, 12 to the top of a rotating centrifugal screen drum 14, and any mixture which rebounds from the drum is returned thereto by a rotating distributor 16, comprising a sleeve 72, 74, 76, base flange 86 and radial plates 82. The sleeve is divided to allow jets of washing water from pipe 80 to reach the screen drum. The drum comprises nine flat screens (46) clamped removably to a supporting cage (Fig. 2, not shown), and one plate 82 is aligned with the centre line of each screen. The distributor 16 rotates in the same direction as the drum 14, and as described the distributor is secured to the drum by brackets 88 to rotate therewith. Notches 84 in the plates prevent mixture being directed towards horizontal centre supports 64 where screens are impervious. Screens could be divided at supports 64. As described mixture is delivered upwards by pipe 10, rebounds from baffle 40 and is delivered to the drum by inclined plates 12, and drive shaft 66 extends upwards to a motor. Alternatively the drum could be driven from below and filled from above. Access door 32 could be openwork to allow distributor 16 to create radial air curents to assist flow of mixture. The outer edges of plates 82 are spaced from screens (46) by less than half the plate height. One fourth of the screen area is below flange 86. |
