1469438 Tailgate hinges IHW ENG Ltd 31 Jan 1975 [20 March 1974] 12264/74 Heading E2F A hinge for a vehicle tailgate comprises a first part 7 to which is secured a pin 8 and a second part 6 formed with slots 9 which receive the pin for pivoting but allow the two parts to be separated for removal of the tailgate; a nose portion 10 extending partially over the slots. As shown the first part comprises a U-shaped member 6 which is secured to the tailgate in use and the second part is an L-shaped member 7 designed to be mounted on the vehicle chassis and which is welded between the ends of pin 8. The slots in member 6 are designed to engage the ends of the pin in the fully open and closed positions of the tailgate and to allow it to be removed when halfway between the two i.e. in a generally horizontal position.
